THE IDEA ACT: This is a bill to fully fund aid for disabled students, It is being sponsored by two Democrats and three Republicans. Call Rep. Latta and ask him to support this bill.
HOUSE BILL 64 will set funding for schools. The governor has a new formula, which increases aid to some schools and cuts it for others. The house wants to keep funding for those schools that are to get cuts for at least one more year, until the proposed formula is worked out in more detail. However, all of the charter schools will get funding, even if they are under-performing schools.

Mary Ann Schroeder announced there were papers on the table to update member information. Prayer was offered by Alton Myers and lunch followed. Mary Ann introduced Dr. Steve Switzer who is superintendent of Pettisville Schools. He gave chronological information regarding the wind turbine development they have for energy savings. While it is great for them, to go out and try to do it yourself would not be cost effective. He doubted there are grants available anymore, and that is what helped them finance their project.
The secretary’s report was approved as printed after a motion by Mary Williams and second by Jerry Fensler. Joyce Bok reported the treasury – checking: $507.82, savings: $316.03, and CD: $6692.34 plus interest. Today’s collections were $28 food pantry and $27 for scholarship.
Under new business Mary Ann acknowledged receipt of a thank you from Kalyssa Bauman of Ayersville who received the $300 book scholarship given to a student at Defiance College. Mary Ann also made a request for new program ideas. Glancing back at the 2011 ORTA magazine, she noted it then mentioned 50 years since the Bay of Pigs invasion….
